Let me tell you that in kids soccer drills, there are certain blunders that coaches make which reduce their teams to rubble and bring it down. Yes, it’s a fact. Many of you must be thinking that how can there be something so big that can destroy a team. Well, let it be known that there are many.

When it comes to soccer drills for kids, you have to be very careful and strategic. It’s very important for you know the kid’s psychology. Communicate with them in a way that suits their age level. But unluckily, nearly all coaches are not experienced in this. They simply close their eyes to the dissimilarity between teaching adult players and kids.

So this is it; let me share some blunders that coaches make which reduce their teams to rubble.

1. To many coaches, their job appears to be very simple. They are not punctual, fail to organize the drills, and don’t think it’s important to plan the sessions. Activities like these not merely put off the kids but are also terrible. Just like the kids, you too should get serious about soccer. Put together the youth soccer drills ahead of time. If you need certain equipment to carry out the drills, arrange it before hand.

Always be prompt. Do not come to the field after kids. Actually, be there when the kids get there. It has the advantage of finding some extra time to practice the drills and plan other things.

2. When the coaches deliver the instructions before the kids soccer drills, they tend to take a lot of time. Can you anticipate how boring that can get? Know that kids come to the field to play and not listen to boring speeches. Keep your words of wisdom brief and straight forward. Use these sessions in a way that the kids get inspired to play and enjoy the game.

It is crucial that you do not interrupt the kids when they are playing. If there is something that you need to tell the kids, wait for the session to end. Also, you should be outside the field when the kids are enjoying the game.

3. Some coaches tend to get emotional or abusive with the players. In soccer drills for youth, both the behaviors are unacceptable. It is bad to display weak behaviour on the soccer field. It is Ok if kids make mistakes. Always remember that they are young. You should not take it seriously and get offensive with the players.

When this happens, you are making the kids loose interest and also making things difficult for yourself. Soccer is about mind games. When the kids understand this, they feel inspired.

There is a huge difference in the techniques adopted in kids soccer drills to train kids in comparison to those who are in high school or college. This is because the former are in the first stage of the learning curve while the latter have a good idea as to what is it that they prefer to do and what not.

Still, in soccer drills for kids, there are a variety of means for coaching transforming budding players into champions. First and foremost, never forget that kids will remain interested in the game only till the time they find pleasure out of it. If their level of interest is not maintained, they feel discouraged to play. Kids try to find ways to disintegrate with the sport. So have patience and don’t make them feel obligated to play.

Most of the kid’s play the game because their parents want them to while others plays for sheer enjoyment. Praise and recognition does not fascinate kids in either of the case. Many soccer coaches tend to completely ignore this aspect in kids soccer drills. They get on to the kids nerves to attain the performance targets like their physical capacity and skills. But be cautious with it. Do not be abusive with the kid. He should not become the center of gossip. As an example, you can keep the boy away from a training session as a punishment.

Kids Soccer Drills: Want To Know how To Warm Up

In kids soccer drills, it’s surprising that warm up before playing is considered unimportant. As a coach, I just cannot emphasize enough that warming up before sessions is not just mandatory but also a great way to kick start your training sessions. Coaches in youth soccer drills do not take this factor into consideration. The consequences are then faced by the players when they suffer injuries in training.

This article gives you some nice tips on how to get the team warmed up. Teach the players to warm up by following those body movements that help all muscles to work up. This is the most effective way to liven up all muscles in the body. Rigorous sessions can result in stiffness and cramping of the muscles.

Tip 1: In this make the players go for a light 5 to 7 minute jog. It’s advisable to begin with a light jog and then move on to sprinting. In this, the pulse rate should reach 120 beats per minute. But, slow improvement is better. Next, make the players sway their legs, front and back, which should take roughly 10 minutes each. To conclude, the players should vigorously stretch their body more than 20 yards.

Tip 2: But make sure that this active stretching over 20 yards goes with a few warm up exercises of its own. For example, have your players skip back and forth. The players can also be taught cross stepping. They must also be taught high-knee carioca. These must be carried out just like sprinting.

In soccer drills for kids, running towards the back is also a very useful warm up exercise. However the right way to do it is to kick up the heels to the butt. No doubt, it is a little difficult to practice it this way but there’s no other way of correctly doing it.

Tip 3: In kids soccer drills, there are many other warming up exercises that increase the stamina to perform in the practice sessions. The players can be taught to hop with swings and loops. These give an added element to the skipping exercises. Also have your players do the cross-over hopping. It is Quick Hip Swings which is e very efficient and proven method of warming up the body, although it’s a little superior.

Subsequently the players can be made to do long shuffle with spins midway. Have the players move back and forth using their legs. It has the effect of toning the body in an effective and easy way. In the same way, high leg forwards and backwards is also very effective.

Tip 4: Stretching should be carried out properly and sufficiently. What works best for the legs is stretch hinging. Make sure all players have worked out their quadriceps, calves, hamstring, and groin without fail. Stretching not only prevents injury but also increases the range of the muscles.

Also ensure that in soccer drills for youth, kids are discouraged from overdoing anything. The kids may get injured needlessly because of this, as they tend to do so only in over excitement.

Kids Soccer Drills: How To Teach Dribbling

In kids soccer drills, I’m not sure if you know this but someone who’s familiar with the game of soccer knows the importance of dribbling. Dribbling is the art of maintaining control of the ball while moving around in the field. It is one of the first soccer skills taught to the kids at the beginning level.

But how do you decide the level of its significance in the game. If you want your kids to develop dribbling skills, regular drills are the best thing to do. As a result the kids learn the fundamentals to move with the ball in field. It’s the skill of dribbling while maintaining contact with the ball which lets you leave behind several opponents in the play ground.

Learn by heart these basic tricks like playing with the ball in order to become a great dribbler. Kids soccer drills coach the kids to use the surface of their foot. When dribbling at a fast speed, kids will be frequently using the front part of their instep.

However, to be a good dribbler, ensure that the kids are expert at using the inside and outside of both feet. This will allow them to keep the ball in their control no matter where the opponent’s force approaches from. Kids must also be taught to apply both sides of their feet similar to a hockey stick.

Teach the players to be vigilant and keep track of the ball. Kids must keep an eye on the playing field and concentrate on the ball while dribbling.

Guide them in bettering their weak foot. Soccer drills for youth will help get their weak foot improve gradually by continuously hitting the ball against the wall with the same weak foot.
When kids find some free time, instruct them to play with the ball. Guide the kids to just spin the ball backward and forward with the help of the weaker foot even when they are sitting. The more they do it, the more they will be able to control the ball.
