Still only 22, he is FIFA’s current “World Player of the Year” and he is likely to chalk up awards, goals and assists for many years to come.

He was the winner of the “Golden Boot” for Spain at Euro 2008 (which means that he scored more goals at the tournament than anyone else) and is closing in on Spain’s all time international scorers record. Villa has attracted a host of top clubs, who are all eager to land this prolific striker’s elusive signature.

Kaka : Brazilian midfield maestro Kaka, is a playmaker of the highest calibre. Able to make pinpoint passes across the entire length of the field, or dribble past several players in a row, Kaka was the darling of AC Milan and led them to “Champions League” success in 2007. Kids Soccer Drills: How To Teach Dribbling

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Kids soccer drills

In kids soccer drills, I’m not sure if you know this but someone who’s familiar with the game of soccer knows the importance of dribbling. Dribbling is the art of maintaining control of the ball while moving around in the field. It is one of the first soccer skills taught to the kids at the beginning level.

But how do you decide the level of its significance in the game. If you want your kids to develop dribbling skills, regular drills are the best thing to do. As a result the kids learn the fundamentals to move with the ball in field. It’s the skill of dribbling while maintaining contact with the ball which lets you leave behind several opponents in the play ground.

Learn by heart these basic tricks like playing with the ball in order to become a great dribbler. Kids soccer drills coach the kids to use the surface of their foot. When dribbling at a fast speed, kids will be frequently using the front part of their instep.

However, to be a good dribbler, ensure that the kids are expert at using the inside and outside of both feet. This will allow them to keep the ball in their control no matter where the opponent’s force approaches from. Kids must also be taught to apply both sides of their feet similar to a hockey stick.

Youth Soccer Drills

It’s pertinent in soccer drills for kids to guarantee that kids come into contact with the ball at each step. Keep the ball ahead of you when you dribbling it. The kids will therefore be able to be in charge of the ball and enhance the dribbling speed along the ball.

This will elude the opponents defending the ball when they attempt to come closer to get it. So start slowly and focus at it during the initial stages to make sure that kids are feeling comfortable with the ball through each step.

Teach young players in youth soccer drills to keep changing the pace. It is not mandatory that kids should be very quick in dribbling to defeat the opposite team. Rather, put the defender to sleep for a moment and then break past the rival with great speed.

Teach the players to be vigilant and keep track of the ball. Kids must keep an eye on the playing field and concentrate on the ball while dribbling.

Guide them in bettering their weak foot. Soccer drills for youth will help get their weak foot improve gradually by continuously hitting the ball against the wall with the same weak foot.
When kids find some free time, instruct them to play with the ball. Guide the kids to just spin the ball backward and forward with the help of the weaker foot even when they are sitting. The more they do it, the more they will be able to control the ball.

Now you know! Kids must be taught the skill of protecting the ball with their body in kids soccer drills. The ball should be saved using the body when the defender approaches it. Coach Youth Soccer

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 It’s sure that you are equipped with every single secret to effectively coach youth soccer after you finish reading this. Coaching kids about soccer is no rocket science but yes, it requires skill, knowledge, and a lot of patience. What follow are known strategies to teach youth soccer. Consistent application of these tricks will help you build up a great team.

Encourage learning: You have heard about it many times but what is the correct way to encourage learning? Allow the kids to take their own decisions and even if they falter, relax. This practice allows the players to become more resourceful even as they enjoy the whole process.

Give names to all teams: Have the players divided into teams in order to organize the events in a better way. Also it is a great idea to give names to the teams as this inculcates a sense of association.

Determine success and failures: Choose a benchmark in advance to coach youth soccer for quantifying the performance. Some rules to understand this are whether the kids are enjoying the sessions. Check whether the kids are actually enjoying or just playing. Are the players learning the skill of passing, dribbling, and dealing with the ball?

Coaching Youth Soccer

Reward their efforts: It positively effects the performance of budding and experienced players. However, the rewards don’t need to be huge. Like one extra half hour’s break for the winner team or permitting them to leave early. And avoid giving rewards for individual performance. It is not feasible in a game like soccer where some players are better than others. It is therefore better to acknowledge the team effort.

Tackling bad behavior: In teaching soccer, bad behavior of players can negatively affect the entire team’s performance if not handled well. For example, if a player is always late for the drills, do not ignore it. Send everyone in the team a message by reprimanding him with a simple punishment.

This is applicable to the parents as well, few of which have a tendency to interfere in the team’s affairs. Control it in time and notify everyone about it. You must take the decisions being the coach of the team. Yet, parent’s participation is also necessary to a certain level.

Become the leader: Because you are seen as a mentor, it is possible that everything you do is replicated by the players. So you better mend your ways. Be good and courteous to your colleagues, opposite team, and fellow team members. Get to the sports ground for practice sessions prior to the players. While practicing, avoid passing judgments on the players or the referee.
